ART APPRECIATION GROUP

Art Appreciation picture

At each Art Appreciation meeting a member or visiting expert presents a subject that they have researched, using large, projected images of paintings or other artworks, or suitable video material. Members have proved very capable of developing new, interesting themes. Regular ‘ten-minute-talk’ sessions let new speakers try their hand and some become valued contributors, but there is no obligation to speak.

Membership of the group is limited to 50 which encourages participation and discussion - but also meets the venue’s health and safety standards. We currently have a waiting list for membership but are trying to ‘weed-out’ non-attenders so that we can invite more U3A Bromley members to join our study group.

We meet fortnightly on the first and third Wednesday morning of each month except April, July/August and December when there is just a social event. We assemble from 10am in the small hall on the fourth floor of Bromley Central Library, starting formally at 10.30 and finishing before noon. Contribution to our costs is normally £10 for a term with 7 meetings.

We research our group’s interests to help plan each term, but we welcome new suggestions for topics. The schedule below gives an idea of our plans in 2017:
