Art Appreciation picture

Our two Art Appreciation groups meet in Bromley Library’s small meeting room on the 4th floor. The original fortnightly group has been running on Wednesday mornings for 25 years and membership is closed. The monthly Tuesday afternoon group, which we started in 2018 to accommodate our waiting list, repeats material that the main group enjoyed. Each meeting consists of a presentation with large, projected images of paintings or other artworks followed by questions and discussion. Speakers are mainly group members who have researched a painter or style of painting, or perhaps visited art galleries in other countries.

We encourange all members to give at least one ten-minute talk although there is no obligaion to speak. Many members move on to do interesting in-depth research and to give longer presentations. We also invite the occasional outside expert to speak to us. We break for Christmas, Easter and summer holidays. Each ‘term’ we ask for a contribution to our room costs - usually less than £2 per scheduled meeting. The current schedules are set out below.
