Bromley's new Mayor to attend Explore u3a Bromley Open Day on Oct 3rd

The new Mayor of Bromley, Councillor Christine Harris, will be attending our Explore u3a Bromley open day on Saturday October 3rd 11-3pm at the United Reformed Church Bromley. She will be finding out about our many interest groups and meeting Bromley members and the public.
Councillor Christine Harris was elected Mayor of Bromley for 2026-27, at the annual meeting of the Council on 18th May 2026. She is the sixtieth Mayor appointed in Bromley’s history, which follows the sixtieth anniversary of the borough celebrated last year. Councillor Harris previously served as Deputy Mayor including during the Platinum Jubilee and King’s Coronation, attending over 200 street parties across the borough during these celebratory weekends.
Christine has lived in the borough for over 30 years, having moved to the South from Scotland in 1979 to work for a Chartered Accountancy practice in London, before settling in the borough in 1992. She lives in West Wickham. While her children were at school, Christine was both a Governor and PTA member at Pickhurst Infant and Junior Schools for over seven years, followed by 10 years at Langley Park School for Boys, including during the development and construction of the new school buildings.
Christine is a member of the Friends of Croydon Road Recreation Ground, Kelsey Park, and the Harvington Estate, assisting with the development and support of local community projects. Christine also served as Chair of the Langley Park Residents Association for 16 years.
