Theatre Group visit to see Hamilton at the Victoria Palace Theatre

On the hottest 1st May on record a group of us escaped the heat in the air conditioned auditorium of the Victoria Palace theatre to watch Hamilton.

This Hip Hop musical tells the story of Alexander Hamilton’s part in the American fight for independence (with a little dramatic licence). It was helpful to have some knowledge of this historic period and its leading protagonists as although the actors sang and spoke clearly it was impossible to understand all the words in this fast paced presentation. Some of us thought that Alex Sawyer as Hamilton did not give as strong a performance as the other main characters but that didn’t take anything away from the overall entertainment.

In spite of it being a bit different I think most of the group enjoyed the show - we are a pretty open minded bunch - so another successful Theatre Group trip with our thanks as always to Mary.
