Nicholas Nickleby Parts 1 and 2 Bromley Little Theatre

A group of theatre group members braved Storm Darragh on a December afternoon and evening to attend Bromley Litte Theatre’s December production. It was an ambitious effort which was extremely well done of Nicholas Nickleby performed in 2 parts. Adapted from the production of over 9 hours this two-part play, directed by Joshua George Lawson saw a large cast of BLT players some of whom played various parts, bring to life the Dickens story.

We were entertained by the various groups of players in different aspects of the story from The Nickleby’s in London to Dotheby Hall in Yorkshire with the Squeers family in the terrifying school as well as back in London The Mantelini’s at the milliners featuring Kate Nickleby played by Rose Loakes. After Dotheby Hall Nicholas, played by Joshua Clarkson, and Smike who he had rescued, fell in with The Crummles and their Infant Phenomenon where Nicholas took to acting.

In Part 2 in the evening where some of us had returned the evil wealthy who tried unspeakable acts on poor Kate and hero Nicholas returned to save his sister were followed by the cheerful and good Cheerybles who also managed to bring a love interest for both Nicholas and Kate and the downfall of wicked Uncle Ralph Nickleby.

An enjoyable afternoon and evening was had by all and another great production from BLT. We look forward to more entertainment from them in 2025.
