Taster Drawing Class
6th March 2025

An opportunity to attend a Taster Drawing Course for several weeks run as a weekly class by a fellow u3a Bromley member. This would be run at Martin's Home in central Bromley (on bus routes) and can cater for 6 to 8 participants. This would allow u3a Bromley to gauge interest and see if the Group might be extended beyond the Taster course.
An A3 sketch book will be provided to the initial audience who attend. Tea, coffee, biscuits will be provided for a nominal charge or bring your own drink.
The start date will be confirmed by Martin.
Programme
Martin will cover basic techniques, for example: objective drawing (still life and plants or flowers etc.), the techniques of 1 and 2 point perspective, plans and realisation into a 3D perspective view and would hope to cover the techniques participants are particularly interested in.
His background is as a designer (trained at Ravensbourne College of Art and Design and worked in Design and Technology including Technical drawing), teacher and for 15 years also an Art teacher.
The reason he wishes to run the course is that while some people have a natural gift for drawing, most people can become proficient if they understand the principles and practise the techniques. It is an enjoyable and fundamental skill that is useful to us even in our later years.
He says he is not an artist and does not see this as an Art Group but could cover painting etc.
If you are interested in joining the initial Group - please contact Martin Cooper (below) by 17 March.
Martin is considering running the class on Mondays but would like to hear from everyone who is interested in taking part. He will organise a brief get together first to share his plan for the Group, to agree the best day for the Group, the start date and to answer questions.
