THE STING - Bromley Little Theatre
5th July 2025

In 1930s America during the Great Depression two grifters, Johnny Hooker and Henry Gondorff, get a team together to perform ‘the big con’ on Chicago crime boss, Doyle Lonnegan. Without going into details of what this involves it is quite a complicated plot and I would have thought difficult to get it across on BLT’s tiny stage. As I already knew the story it was hard for me to be sure that had been achieved. Luckily I had my grandson with me and although he had no previous knowledge of the film or play he understood it completely, so job well done. As per usual the acting was impeccable, the American accents believable and the stage ingeniously designed to accommodate several aspects of the ‘sting’ to be performed simultaneously. Great stuff!
