Open Groups

Open Groups meet in hired halls (except Rambles), where members are invited to come along and sample the programme. Further details can be had from our Newsletter. There is usually a small charge to cover hire cost of the hall and speakers’ expenses. There is no need to contact anyone in advance but a current membership card should always be shown at these meetings.

Covid-19 Update October 2020

The Executive Committee is still monitoring the situation regarding the possible restarting of group activities.  Members may be aware that 35 out of our 84 Interest Groups are continuing to function in some form during lockdown; details of these will be made available via Beacon and were published in the September Newsletter.

Other groups, mainly the Open Meetings, have been affected by the closure of the relevant venues following Government instruction.  Although some of these venues are re-opening, the committee considers that the measures in place there, although safe and well-implemented, may still leave our members at risk, even before taking into account the overall Covid-19 situation.  We have therefore decided that until we are absolutely certain that it is safe for our members to restart activities in larger enclosed venues, U3A Bromley will continue in partial closure for the time being..

Members are advised to check with Group Leaders regarding interest groups, as it may be possible for some groups to restart in venues where it would not be viable for larger groups to do so or to hold meetings outdoors following current government guidelines.

There will be updates in Beacon, on this website and in the newsletter.

The following is a list of our Open Groups, their frequency and venue in normal times.

GENERAL MEETINGS – are held at the United Reformed Church, Widmore Road, Bromley at 10.30 am on the third Tuesday each month. All U3A members are very welcome.
