General Meetings 2020

General meetings are held at the United Reformed Church, Widmore Road, Bromley, at 10.30 am on the third Tuesday each month. All U3A members are very welcome.

18 February – Peter Thompson: A barrister for over 27 years. His talk is entitled You the Jury

17 March – Geoff Barton: Protecting the Royal Family During Visits. Geoff is a retired senior Scotland Yard detective. His talk will be about how he was responsible for the security of members of the royal family in their day to day visits to embassies and business venues.

21 April – Annual General Meeting

19 May – We will have a representative from the Leonard Cheshire charity who will talk about the work of the charity.

16 June – Colm Lanigan. Mercy ships. Colm is a retired consultant anaesthetist who has worked for the last three years with mercy ships in four African countries both teaching and providing anaesthesia.

21 July -The Dog Trust. Our speaker today will talk about the largest dog welfare charity in the UK . Caring for over 15000 dogs each year .

18 August – Princess Charlotte. Anne Stott. Anne has recently written a book about the life and times of princess Charlotte who was the daughter of George IV

15 September -A speaker from Co-op estate planning. More details to follow.

20 October – SOE – Special Operations Executive – Churchill’s secret army. Return visit of Gilly Halcrow. A tribute to the brave men and women agents parachuted behind enemy lines .

17 November – Subject not yet confirmed. Mick Jennings

15 December -The history of the Royal Variety Performance. Dean Caston.
