The Vortex at Bromley Little Theatre Saturday 10 October

43 Theatre group members attended the October matinee of The Vortex.

Written by Noel Coward in the mid 1920s and set in the same era, this 3 act play is about a self-obsessed middle aged woman who surrounds herself with sycophantic friends who are only too happy to pander to her belief that she is still young and beautiful. Even her 24 year old son appears to think it is reasonable she has a lover about the same age as him while her husband seems resigned and accepting of her behaviour. Then Bunty is thrown into the mix and everything changes! The set, props and costumes were excellent and the acting competent as always. On occasion there were quite a few people on stage at the same time and when that happens I do wonder how they manage not to trip over each other on that little stage. One of our group commented on how the set design and actors manage to make that small stage look so large.
